Personalizing Your Thank You Cards

Choosing the right stationery for your thank you cards is an important step in making them feel personal and special. Plus, there are so many ways to personalize your thank you cards to show your personality.

match your invitations

First, consider the theme and colors of your wedding. You may choose to match your thank you cards to your wedding invitations or opt for a different design that complements your wedding aesthetic. Whether you prefer classic elegance or modern simplicity, there are countless options available to suit your style.

print method

If you’re paper obsessed and really wish for your personal stationery to stand out, opt for letterpress or foil printing. These print methods not only look and feel luxurious, but they also offer that “wow” factor for your loved ones. For a quicker turnaround time and more affordable elegance, consider digitally printed wedding thank you cards. Either way, including a hand written note on the inside will make your thank you cards feel more special when received.

envelope color

We offer a variety of envelope options to match our wedding thank you cards. White and ivory options are a classic staple, but you may also consider complimenting your thank you cards with a pop of color.

Writing a Heartfelt Message in Your Thank You Cards

One of the most important aspects of writing wedding thank you cards is personalization. Generic thank you messages may get the job done, but they lack the personal touch that makes them truly meaningful. Taking the time to personalize each thank you card will make your guests feel valued and appreciated.

Start by addressing each card to the specific recipient. Use their full name and title, if applicable, to show respect and create a sense of personal connection. If you have a close relationship with the recipient, consider using their nickname or a more informal salutation to reflect your bond.

In your thank you message, mention the specific gift or act of kindness the recipient has given you. This shows that you took notice of their thoughtfulness and that their contribution was meaningful to you. Be specific in your description, mentioning the gift by name or detailing the act of kindness in a heartfelt manner.

To further personalize your thank you cards, include a brief anecdote or memory from your wedding day. This could be something you shared with the recipient, such as a funny moment or a heartfelt conversation. By sharing a special memory, you create a connection between your thank you card and the joyous occasion you celebrated together.

Remember, the key to personalization is to make each thank you card feel unique and tailored to the recipient. Take the time to think about each person's individual role in your wedding and the impact they had on your day. By acknowledging their specific contributions, you create a more meaningful and personal thank you message.

Structuring Your Thank You Card Wording

The message you write in your wedding thank you cards is the heart and soul of your appreciation. It's a chance to express your gratitude in words and convey how much the recipient means to you. Here are some tips to help you write heartfelt messages that resonate with your guests:

Start with a warm greeting

Begin your thank you card with a warm and personal greeting. Use the recipient's name or a term of endearment if appropriate. This sets a friendly and welcoming tone for your message.

Express your gratitude

Open your message by expressing your sincere gratitude for their presence at your wedding. Let them know how much it meant to you to have them there celebrating with you.

Be specific and personal when you can

Mention the specific gift or act of kindness the recipient provided. This shows that you noticed their contribution and that it was meaningful to you. Be specific in your description, using details that reflect your appreciation.

Share a memory or highlight

Include a brief anecdote or memory from your wedding day that involves the recipient. This personal touch creates a connection between your thank you card and the joyous occasion you shared.

Convey emotions:

Use heartfelt language to convey your emotions and the impact the recipient had on your wedding day. Let them know how their presence or gift made you feel and how much it meant to you.

End with warm wishes

Wrap up your thank you card with warm wishes for the recipient. This could include wishing them well in their own life events or expressing your desire to see them again soon.

Remember, the key to writing heartfelt messages is to be genuine and sincere. Let your emotions guide your words and write from the heart. Your guests will appreciate the authenticity and thoughtfulness of your message.

Etiquette for Addressing and Mailing Thank You Cards

As a former etiquette consultant for BRIDES Magazine, it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with etiquette. Proper etiquette for addressing and mailing thank you cards is my favorite of the process. Follow these guidelines to ensure that your thank you cards are sent out correctly and in a timely manner:

– I –
addressing

Use the recipient's full name and title, if applicable. If you have a close relationship with the recipient, you may use their nickname or a more informal salutation. Be sure to double-check the spelling of each name.

– Ii –
return address

All of our wedding stationery includes return address printing on envelopes. This allows the recipient to easily identify the sender and ensures that any undeliverable cards can be returned to you.

– Iii –
postage

Head to the post office to check the weight and size of your thank you cards to determine how much postage needed. Usually, it’s just one stamp! But, if you add bulky items (like ribbon or wax seals) it increases the cost.

– vi –
mailing timeline

Aim to send out your thank you cards no later than two months after your wedding. However, it's best to start working on them as soon as possible to ensure that the memories are fresh in your mind.

– v –
who to send to

Generally, wedding thank you cards are mailed to members of your bridal party, those who have sent a gift, and for those who attended your wedding. You may also wish to write a thank you note to your wedding vendors.
